Everyone could benefit from a legal mentor: a trusted generalist with some knowledge of the law.
The famous baseball pitcher Leroy Satchel Paige said: “Don’t look back. Something might be gaining on you.” There are other reasons to keep looking forward. If you’re always looking back, you may not clearly discern the future or see how change has provided new opportunities. You risk becoming a slave to the past. The enemies of our nation want us to dwell on our mistakes and divide us based on national issues we addressed long ago and have moved beyond. While we are looking back, they focus on looking ahead and planting the seeds of our destruction.
Indeed, geo-politics will impact your future whether you like it or not. It’s important to be attentive to how the world is changing and be involved in the affairs of your country. As I write, American foreign policy is in shambles. Potential enemies sense an era of American preeminence approaching its end. The present U.S. Administration is downsizing our military while Russia, China, North Korea and Iran seek hegemony in their respective spheres and construct larger and more lethal forces. They openly mock the United States as weak and vacillating. The U. S. national debt is $18.2 trillion. (https://www.usdebtclock.org/) China owns a significant portion of it. We’re adding $1 million to our debt every minute and we have $96 trillion in unfunded future liabilities.
The Chinese, who teach in their military academies that the United States is the enemy, fly women to California to have babies—allegedly new U.S. citizens by birth, part of a longer term strategy to infiltrate America with citizen-communists to rule and reign. The Chi-com’s stated goal is military superiority over the United States and, in some respects, they are ahead of schedule. (https://www.nationalreview.com/article/386230/china-rising-jim-talent) Our southern border is virtually non-existent which means we are no longer effectively a sovereign nation. Worse, we are subject to invasion by enemy combatants.
Graduates of U.S. colleges have little or no grasp of history nor understand that the free enterprise system (capitalism) works because people are free. They’ve been beguiled into thinking socialism is a virtue when it’s merely an insidious common lie. In the Middle East, Muslim nihilists behead our journalists, Christians, and burn our allies alive in cages. The tepid U.S. response is noted by would-be tyrants the world over. They view U.S. leadership as lacking courage and commitment. We abandon our allies and normalize relations with countries that loathe us. Our pusillanimous national representatives shrink from constitutional remedies—impeachment and removal of judges and presidents who make themselves the law. The will of the people is crushed. Darkness is falling. Open your eyes to the future and work while there is still a flicker of light.
